Predawn Venus is moving toward Regulus and sinking toward the Sun.
The Sun and Moon are moving toward Spica, Virgo's brightest star.

The New Moon is really a no Moon! This Moon is too close to the Sun to be seen. It is hidden from our view by the Sun's glowing light.

Note: For those living in San Francisco this New Moon takes place overhead 15 minutes before high noon. The Sun, New Moon and planets are located in the same constellations for other parts of the world; these constellations, in differing time zones, lie in a different location above or below the horizon.

Reflections ~ New Moon

With every New Moon our soul goes into meditation and aligns with the inspiration of the Nirmanakayas; a potential is enlivened and a seed of consciousness is formed deep within. Take some time to create a sacred space. A new cycle is beginning.

The New Moon, Sun, Saturn and Mercury are worn like crown by Virgo the Virgin. These celestial bodies reside like jewels in the highest center of the Virgin. Virgo is the heavenly Holy Grail that nurtures our innate divinity, spiritual awareness and Christ consciousness until it can be made manifest. These crown jewels are bridging heaven and earth, awakening humanity from its spiritual slumber. Denebola the changer, Leo the Lion's tail star, potently wags in supportive delight for the nearby stirring.

The Moon, esoteric ruler of Virgo, when located in the Virgin, is giving humankind a great potential toward world service. The Sun in Virgo bestows the forms that can demonstrate a consciousness having a greater sense of the whole. Saturn in the Holy Grail conceives the structures that can exteriorize the unfolding Christ consciousness, foster synthesis and serve in a healing capacity. Mercury positioned here allows the Divine idea to take root and gain strength, as it connects to the magnetic quality of Mother Earth, until it is born into the world. September 19-20, Saturday-Sunday, young slim Luna dances with Spica the brightest star of Virgo the Virgin, first to the right then to the left of the star. Spica is difficult to see in the twilight; binoculars improve visibility and show off Luna's form. Moonsets: 7:25pm, 8:00pm. Use the map above for orientation. Spica symbolizing the sacred womb of Virgo the Virgin, accepts and nourishes the seed of divine will from Arcturus the savior avatar. This seed of divinity resides in Virgo and therefore within Humanity, the sacred Chalice for the Divine Host on Earth.

Arcturus is a golden star, which can be seen in the west at nightfall. Look for the Big Dipper in the northwest and arc from its handle to Arcturus overhead and then spike down to Spica. Helpful Image

Overcoming obstacles to the new incoming awareness begins with the waxing Crescent Moon. What was conceived at the New Moon, The Word Made Flesh, review above, is now in the process of waxing or gestating.

September 21-22, Monday-Tuesday, Crescent Luna transits the constellation Libra, first aligning with its two brightest Zuben stars, then passing to the east of them. Compare the map above with this 9/21 map and 9/22 map.

Libra demands the perfect point of equilibrium, where neither spirit nor matter dominates. Both become ONE. A point of balance is achieved.

September 23-24, Wednesday-Thursday, Crescent Luna transits the burning ground of Scorpius, the cosmic Scorpion, a sprawling j-shaped constellation. See the map above and/or this map. Wednesday evening Luna lies near Antares, the fiery red heart star of Scorpius. Savor the atmospheric twinkling of this summer star; soon it will be swallowed by autumn's twilight glow. Reflections ~ The Waxing Gibbous Moon

The waxing Gibbous Moon is more than half lit, moving toward its full sunlit phase. Illumination and growth are offered by this lunar phase, only if the obstacles from the past are cleared away. This must happen, if the energy released with the coming Full Moon is to be utilized.

September 27-30, Sunday-Wednesday evening, Luna activates the Jupiter-Neptune pairing in the dim constellation Capricornus and enlivens the diagonal line-up of Fomalhaut, Jupiter and Altair.

The emanations of Capricornus support a new cycle of effort, one with immense spiritual possibilities, one that gives full expression to the earthly nature. Jupiter in the constellation Capricornus assists one in transcending their crystalized lower nature by replacing desire with love, hence bringing a triumphant soul into manifestation. Telescopic Neptune in this constellation aids our rebirth by helping us rebuild or create structures that manifest our dreams, our spirit on Earth. These planets working through Capricornus can open the doorway to the head center and bestow humanity with divine purpose and vision.

Jupiter's prograde and retrograde motion in 2009, bring it in exact conjunction with Neptune three-times! The first two closest approaches occurred 5/27 and 7/10. The third occurs on the December solstice 12/21. This triple event is rare. The joining of Jupiter and Neptune arouse our ideals and awaken a greater sense of compassion. The heavens through repetition are sounding the Word, guiding, seeding and evolving humanity through its heart and soul during this time of global transition.

Jupiter forms a striking diagonal line-up with Fomalhaut to the southeast and Altair to the northwest. These three celestial bodies are prominent in an otherwise dim part of the sky. Fomalhaut lies at the mouth of the great Southern Fish, Pisces Austrinus, which drinks from the jug of Aquarius. It is associated with the transition of the ages from Pisces to Aquarius.

Fomalhaut, one the "Four Royal Architects," [Royal Stars] inspires future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society. ... Fomalhaut promotes the flow of resources within the human populous that creates a wholesome human condition. Altair the head or eye of Aquila the Eagle reminds us that vision and freedom come when the intellect can make the leap to intuition and we awaken to the promptings of our essential divinity. In flight Aquila is known to carry mighty thunderbolts in his talons. These can shake one to their core, if one fails to hear or resists the divine promptings.

As you view Fomalhaut, Jupiter, Altair and the transiting Moon, open to their emanations. Ponder a humanitarian world based on a greater sense of compassion, the love of the soul. Aim the arrow of the mind toward the intuition, the source of vision, purpose and freedom. Listen. The Word is sounding, yearning to be made flesh through you.

Jupiter ~ Planetary Treat During Libra

October 1-2, Thursday-Friday evening, Luna transits rebellious Uranus, at the circlet of Pisces. Uranus in Pisces arouses a willful rejection of a limited reality. It's emanations shift humanity into new visions that encompass the greater whole and lead to greater freedom.

In addition Saturn's opposition to Uranus on the zodiacal wheel creates a tension of polarities. The new and unconventional energies of Uranus want to free themselves from the conformity and long-established energies represented by Saturn. This prolonged opposition lasts from 2008-2010 with 5 exact conjunctions: 11/4/08 (US election day), 2/5/09, 9/15/09 (a strong influence in this current lunar cycle), 4/26/10 and 7/26/10.

We are at a threshold of new social, religious and cultural order. The threshold is a process which lasts about 2 years. The changes are at once swift as well as frustratingly slow. The position of this Full Moon reminds us that the human spirit, presented with earthly challenges, hangs on the cross of matter often losing its spiritual compass (Diphda). Libra is the point of balance in the zodiac, where spirit and matter maintain a poised equilibrium. Libra demands we walk the razor edged path of balance, for it brings forth the "cutting edge" ideas that transform our world.

Virgo nurtures humanity's inner seed of divinity, so that it may grow and emerge, ultimately giving birth to the HU - man being * , a God - man, a Christed ONE on Earth. The Sun positioned in Virgo bestows the forms that can demonstrate a consciousness having a greater sense of the whole. Porrima, the star positioned near the Sun, named after the goddess of childbirth and prophecy, emphasizes new beginnings and the use of guiding intuition during change and its birthing process.

The Full Moon's illuminating light supports the whole, all of who we are, and guides us toward a balanced manifestation of spirit and matter ... the Word made flesh.

In Summary

This lunar cycle and its Full Moon help us integrate the whole of who we are. We are reminded to balance matter and spirit, the personality and the soul. The Libran Way governs the razor edged path between polarities. When spirit and matter, light and dark interact and it is our compassion that unites them in right relationship and poised equilibrium. The Red Triad is a long thin triangle formed by the Red Planet, red Aldebaran the eye star of Taurus the Bull and red Betelgeuse, Orion's shoulder star. The triangle shifts shape with the movement of Mars.
Orion's Belt Stars point up to red Aldebaran and down to Sirius the brightest star in the night sky.
The Winter Stars are some of the brightest stars in the heavens. Many of these celestial gems and jewels may have originated in the Orion Nebula, a stellar nursery located in the sword of Orion. The Great Winter Hexagon is formed by these stars.

Begin looking for Aldebaran and the Pleiades (M45) star cluster, known also as the Seven Sisters, low on the eastern horizon at 10:00pm. They mark the eye and shoulder of Taurus the Bull respectively.

Orion is fully risen by midnight. Sirius rises around 1:30am.

Wasat, Mars, the Red Triad

The Last Quarter Moon can bring a crisis in consciousness as the Moon squares the Sun. This cycle's experiences have culminated and one must now prepare for rebirth by initiating change. This lunar phase is exact October 11 at 1:56am PDT (08:56 UT).

October 11, Sunday morning, the Last Quarter Moon can be seen rising in the northeast, in a dark, early morning sky at 12:00am. Look for Luna overhead in the day sky between 7:00am - 9:00am; she sets in the northwest just before 3pm.

Last Quarter Luna hides and is in conjunction with the star Wasat in the Gemini Twins. She activates Mars and the Red Triad, the triangle formed by the Red Planet, red Aldebaran the eye of Taurus the Bull and Betelgeuse, Orion's red shoulder star.

Mars in the Gemini Twins is bound to increase and accentuate experiences with opposing forces. The action and interaction of these forces provide the opportunities that eventually lead to the resolution of conflict. The Twins are an example of cooperation between the duality the soul (Pollux) and the personality (Castor). Together they are and do something greater than either can alone. Last Quarter Luna conjoined with Wasat near Mars emphasizes this union, the Word made flesh, while one is in the hotbed of polarity.

In the midst of Gemini is the star Wasat, Delta Gemini [*]... Wasat is the middle, the umbilical cord or connecting link between Castor and Pollux. Wasat is the liaison, the means to bring the pieces together, a link that unites those on Earth with their greater destiny and acts as a catalyst for their evolutionary fulfillment.
