Sirius ~ Leo Cosmic Festival

The Sirius ~ Leo Cosmic Festival is celebrated at the Full Moon during the sign of Leo (July 22 - August 21). This Festival is dedicated to the task of making contact with Sirian force.

In 2013 there is a somewhat rare occurrence of two Full Moons during the sign of Leo: Monday, July 22 at 11:15am PDT (18:15 UT) and Tuesday, August 20, 6:45pm PDT (01:45 UT 8/21). The first Full Moon during a sign is generally considered to be the more potent of the two.

In 2013 the folks at have been impressed and guided to participate in the Sirius ~ Leo Cosmic Festival in an extended two-part manner. The July 22 Full Moon establishes contact with Sirian force on the inner planes. The August 20 Full Moon is an opportunity to deepen this contact––to fully connect with extraplanetary energies and strengthen our group alignment within the greater evolutionary context. The time between both Full Moons is held as the high interlude for this two-part cosmic event.

This web page gives insights about Sirius and the Sirius ~ Leo Cosmic Festival. It focuses on the August 20 Sirius ~ Leo Full Moon. To review The Night Sky's July 22 Sirius ~ Leo Full Moon information click here.

An Artist's Impression of Sirius A and Sirius B

ESA Hubble: NASA / ESA / G. Bacon (STScI)

This picture is an artist's impression showing how the binary star system of Sirius A and its diminutive blue companion, Sirius B, might appear to an interstellar visitor. The large, bluish-white star Sirius A dominates the scene, while Sirius B is the small but very hot and blue white-dwarf star on the right.

The two stars revolve around each other every 50 years. White dwarfs are the leftover remnants of stars similar to our Sun. The Sirius system, only 8.6 light-years from Earth, is the fifth closest stellar system known. Sirius B is faint because of its tiny size. Its diameter is only 7,500 miles (about 12 thousand kilometers), slightly smaller than the size of our Earth.

The Sirius system is so close to Earth that most of the familiar constellations would have nearly the same appearance as in our own sky. In this rendition, we see in the background the three bright stars that make up the Summer Triangle: Altair, Deneb, and Vega. Altair is the white dot above Sirius A; Deneb is the dot to the upper right; and Vega lies below Sirius B. But there is one unfamiliar addition to the constellations: our own Sun is the second-magnitude star, shown as a small dot just below and to the right of Sirius A. [Annotated Image]

It is said that all great Avatars and evolutionary energies originate from Sirius, the brightest star in our heavens. The influences of Sirius are focused through Regulus, the heart of the Lion, found in the constellation of Leo. According to the works of Alice Bailey, the Leo-Sirius connection is key to humanity's spiritual evolution and the building of a new unifying world religion. This Sirius ~ Leo Festival offers a great and unique opportunity to become aware of these cosmic energies.

These words from Marianne Williamson capture the essence of the Leo mysteries. "... We are born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." When Leo is in its strength and power this energy knows and remembers its radiant and shining divine essence shared by all life. Shamanic Astrology 7/03

Leo the Lion ~ Zodiacal Deity

During the Sirius ~ Leo Cosmic Festival, the soul light within us is ever increasingly aware of the spiritual light emanating from Sirius. This great Sirian light is becoming more available, bringing to us a new opportunity, a new path. The Sirius ~ Leo Festival prepares humanity and in turn planet Earth for perfection and ultimate cosmic service, bringing us into contact with the Heart of God.

Leo stands in a unique relationship to the sun at the heart of our solar system. The planetary and systemic alignment established at this Festival is a heart / soul alignment. The heart of humanity, the heart of the planet ~ the spiritual Hierarchy ~ and the heart of the sun create the channel which extends to Sirius ... This alignment is evocative of the cosmic principle of Love and Freedom, both of which flow through Sirius and Leo into our range of awareness. Lucis Trust website, 2005

Reflections ~ The Full Moon's Position

The Full Moon resides in the constellation Aquarius along with nearby Neptune. The light of Aquarius ever shines within the dark, paving the way for the soul and spirit to express through substance. The healing rays of this constellation cleanse that which must be purified until the dark has gone.

The Sirius ~ Leo Full Moon moves toward Neptune as the hours unfold. Both are in exact conjunction 9.75 hours following the exact time of Full Moon. In addition, the planet Neptune is in a close approach to the Earth at the time of the Full Moon. Its closest approach, opposition, occurs August 26/27, a week after the Full Moon. Neptune's influence on humanity is greater the closer it is to Earth.

Neptune is the planetary inspiration for 'what moves us' at the soul level, and brings us together in recognition that we're One. Molly Hall /

The Sirius ~ Leo Full Moon diagonally aligns with Enif, the nose star of Pegasus the Flying Horse (north/above), and with Fomalhaut, the mouth of the great Southern Fish, Pisces Austrinus (south/below). Review map above.

… Enif brings intuitiveness and sensitivity to the humanitarian / Aquarian pursuit. Enif is characteristic of altruistic people, those with the intuitive awareness to recognize what is of essence, of value, and worthy of humanitarian support. It is of those who are capable of providing material and / or financial support and who have the sensitivity to do so. A fortuitous star, Enif asks us to follow our intuition to do what is truly supportive to our greater well being. Nick Fiorenza

Fomalhaut and its constellation, Pisces Austrinus, found below/south of the Full Moon, are associated with the shift of the ages from Pisces to Aquarius. Fomalhaut, at the mouth of this great Southern Fish drinks from the jug of Aquarius. In an early legend this great Fish is noted as the parent (single) of the zodiacal fish Pisces (World Savior).

Fomalhaut, one the "Four Royal Architects," [Royal Stars] inspires future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences, in technology, and in social issues of the world. Fomalhaut promotes the flow of resources within the human populous that creates a wholesome human condition. Fomalhaut defies convention and compartmentalization, but supports individuality, progress, and freedom. Nick Fiorenza

Reflections ~ Full Moon's Illumination

The Full Moon is illuminated by the Sun positioned near Regulus, the heart of Leo the Lion. Leo the Lion provides an opportunity to be the soul, which is neither spirit nor matter but the relation between them.

Note: Annually on or near August 22, the Sun (heart of our solar system) occults Regulus (heart star of Leo the Lion), which focuses and regulates the emanations of Sirius (esoterically the heart of our Sun) toward Earth.

In 2013 the second Full Moon in Leo, Aug. 20 6:45pm PDT (01:45 UT 8/21), occurs about 2 days before this occultation.

Regulus the Royal, Lion-Hearted Lawgiver focuses and regulates the evolutionary energies of Sirius our Spiritual Sun into our awareness. These forces of cosmic Love and Freedom stimulate a response in humanity that expresses the Christ consciousness, a response that aligns with the soul's Higher Law and our greater destiny.

Regulus keeps us vertically attuned for horizontal humanitarian participation in the world. With the Lion-Hearted Lawgiver near the Sun (heart of our solar system) the heart of humanity grows in the love of the soul as cosmic Love streams forth from Sirius, to Regulus through our solar system and illuminates the Sirius ~ Leo Full Moon.

In Summary

This Full Moon and the days surrounding it are calling humanity to go deeper and recognize what is of value, what aligns us with the integrity of the soul, "what moves us" and brings us together in recognition that we're One.

The time has come to recognize we all are of divine lineage, evolving toward our greater destiny. We are being called to grow our "Aquarian" hearts: to foster humanitarianism, to unite spirit and matter, to call forth and follow our guiding intuition and do what is truly supportive of the greater well-being of all.

This is the time to pursue a greater vision and ride the waves of accelerated revolutionary change. See This Lunar Month's Theme by Nick Fiorenza.
