Mars, Venus and the Crescent Moon

Blazing luminous Venus and the much dimmer Red Planet are quite the dancing duo above the western horizon. Look Up! Venus is easily seen in a light sky, while dim Mars pops into view as the sky darkens. Mars is first seen above Venus when the lunar cycle begins. Each following day, watch Venus and Mars get closer and closer together until they gloriously embrace and then trade heavenly places.

February 19-21, Thursday-Saturday Catch the planetary pair with a young slim Crescent Moon, first seen below the pair (Feb.19), then joined with the two (Feb. 20) and finally above the duo the day of their exact conjunction (Feb. 21). You need only your eyes to see this celestial treat, however binoculars create and even more delightful view, making vivid the red hue of Mars and the delicate beauty of Luna.

The waxing Crescent Moon brings up obstacles from the past that can impede the new incoming energies and one's growth in consciousness. The work to overcome these obstacles begins now.

Mars and Venus Are Opposites,
Going in Different Directions

Most everyone has heard of the concept and book "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus." Mars and Venus are icons for the male and female polarities. They are opposites. The nature of Mars is yang; Venus is yin. Venus is associated with the Roman goddess of love and beauty, while Mars is the ancient god of war. Mars deals with struggles within and with others. Venus harmonizes, balances and is a peacemaker. Mars is outgoing, physical, active. Venus is receptive, persuasive, quiet.

Mars and Venus are traveling in different directions. Mars is moving away from Earth and the distance between Mars and Earth is increasing.  Venus is moving closer to Earth and the distance between Venus and Earth is decreasing. As a result, from the perspective of Earth, Venus is growing brighter and Mars is getting dimmer.

As March opens, Venus and Mars hang near each other in the western sky as darkness falls. Venus shines at magnitude –3.9 [ * ] and shows up within 20 minutes of sunset. Mars glows at magnitude 1.3 — less than 1 percent as bright as its neighbor — and the sky needs to darken considerably for it to emerge. By 7 p.m. local time, both appear conspicuous. Venus stands 15° [degrees] high, and Mars hangs 4° below it. Astronomy Magazine March 2015

Mars is slowly sinking toward the horizon and the setting Sun, while Venus is rising higher and faster away from the setting Sun and Mars.

In review, February 21 marks the day the planetary pair are in conjunction, at their closest proximity to each other. February 21 Map By early March Venus rises above Mars and daily, the distance between the duo increases. March 1 Map 1hr. after Sunset

As March progresses, the apparent gap between the two worlds grows. Mars orbits farther from the Sun than does Earth and thus moves more slowly than our planet. The relative motion soon will carry Mars behind the Sun from our viewpoint. Mean-while, Venus follows a faster inside track and is pulling away from the solar glow. By March 21, 13° [degrees] separate the two planets. Astronomy Magazine March 2015

Mars and Venus in Pisces
A Trigger to the Uranus-Pluto Square

Mars and Venus are in both the sign and constellation of Pisces from February 18 - March 15. The Difference Between Signs and Constellations

Mars in Pisces ... The focus of the will [in a personality centered individual] is replaced by devotion to emotion, and the individual may easily be swept away by the movements of the mass consciousness. When Mars in Pisces comes under the direction of a Soul-centred individual ... the presence of the will [strengthens] and brings about a completely different orientation. The individual is then able to infuse consciously directed purpose into any set of circumstances, whilst transforming and reorienting the energies of the lower self in the process.

Venus in Pisces ... With this position, Love must conquer all opposition and differences ... the struggle of duality between the lower and the Higher Selves is finally brought to a harmonious conclusion, liberating the loving consciousness of the Soul so that it may penetrate deeply into the hearts of all people everywhere.

During the sign of Pisces both Venus and Mars conjoin Uranus, which is also in the constellation of Pisces. These conjunctions occur Mar. 4 + 11 respectively.

Both [Mars and Venus] conjoin Uranus and square Pluto, triggering the seventh and final Uranus-Pluto square [Revolution and Revelation] ... The Venus and Mars triggers to the intensifying Uranus-Pluto square [exact Mar. 17 UT] inspire passionate and cooperative, yet assertive action to create revolutionary change in our lives—an underlying current expressing throughout this lunar cycle. In Conclusion

It is written in the heavens! A sacred, passionate union and dance are occurring between the male and female energies in the sky and within humanity. As above, so below. There is an arousal of creative, Life-giving energies. There is an experience of tension (approach), convergence (union), emergence (renewal, rebirth). Crisis? Metamorphosis? Make friends with both!

During this lunar cycle we have the opportunity and challenge of synthesizing our expressive / active nature with our receptive / intuitive nature.

With the help of Pisces the heavenly union and dance of Mars and Venus have the potential of blending and mending the relationship of our female and male energies. Pisces has the ability to raise our consciousness so that we may realize our wholeness and our Oneness with all that is.

During this lunar cycle passionate, cooperative, assertive action can create revolutionary change in our lives.

The harmonizing and creative influences of Venus are on the increase as the planet moves closer and closer to Earth, shining its light brighter and brighter.

Look Up! ... Look Within,
Susan Sun at The Night Sky

Night Sky

Wow we absolutly loved the Venus/Mars/Crescent Moon alignment! Lovely! Two questions: 1) Why over the last week or so when I look up at the Night Sky I keep thinking about triangles. 2)Then why do I keep thinking about the old phrase about "March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb"? Is there something up there in the sky that is trying to tell us something. A devoted reader and looker upper! Ted J. Rucker
