This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely,
more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.
- Leonard Bernstein
I have never owned a gun. I do not condone or believe violence solves anything, except in the case of self-defense or the protection of others is involved. Yes, I would support a ban on assault rifles. But in this case and in reality in all cases, it is always the person firing the gun at innocent people that is the problem.
This is truly about fear, hate and evil being projected upon innocent people of Orlando Florida. This horrific crime was directed at a minority, gays, and yet it is wrong to blame all Muslims for one man's demented actions.
I am reminded that, just recently we honored Mohammed Ali, a Muslim. Ali had requested that at his funeral that all the world's major faiths speak out. This is the level of trust and tolerance and the type of dialogue the world needs.
We all need to look inside and all around us, and ask ourselves what can we do to make our world a safer place. We need to be ever more vigilant in seeking out and stopping the fear, hate and evil that caused this man to commit the worst mass shooting in US history.
But we must not use fear, hate and evil to accomplish this, we need wisdom, vision, love, strength, and the will to achieve our goal of making our world a better place for all.
Into the Divine flow we go!
