Goodwill
Thoughts
for the Festival Season
I call
you to no organizational loyalties, but only to love your fellowmen
... I call you from your dreams of vague beauty, impossible Utopias
and wishful thinking, to face life as it is today; and then to
begin, in the place where you are, to make it better. I call you to
the experiment of right human relations, beginning with your own personal
relations to your family and friends, and then to the task of educating
those you contact so that they also start a similar work. It is the
work of attaining right individual relations, right group relations,
right intergroup relations, right national relations and right international
relations. I call you to the realization that in this work no one is
futile or useless, but that all have a place of practical value. I
call you to recognize that goodwill is a dynamic energy which can bring
about world changes of a fundamental kind, and that its mode of expression
is through the activity of the individual man and woman and through
their massed intent.

Life's Wisdom
We
are all born for Love.
It is the principle of our existence
and its only meaning and its only end.
- Benjamin
Disraeli
Only
if we understand, can we care.
Only if we care, will we help.
Only if we help, shall all be saved.
- Jane

THE WILL TO GOOD OF
THE WORLD KNOWERS
IS THE MAGNETIC SEED OF THE FUTURE.
- Alice A. Bailey, The Rays
and the Initiations (Rule IV)
Goodwill
is contagious;
once a definite start has been made in a pure and disinterested spirit,
goodwill will permeate the world,
right human relations will be rapidly established.
-
Alice A. Bailey, The Rays and the Initiations, p. 752
... that Place of Love and
Power will be situated on earth,
and will be publicly recognized;
the effects of that appearance and of that recognition will be terrific,
calling forth an equally terrific onslaught and effort by the Forces of
Evil
unless humanity itself has first sealed "the door where evil
dwells."
This must be done by the establishing of right human relations.
- Alice A. Bailey, The
Externalisation of the Hierarchy, p. 617
The
ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral,
begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy ...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only Light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only Love can do that.
- Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.
The
only safe way to destroy an enemy
is to make him your friend.
- Abraham
Lincoln

... Give yourself time to withdraw,
mentally, from the cares and attractions of the physical life and,
in Spirit, join the company of those assembled high in the etheric
peaks of life ... Be very still in mind and body, try to feel that
point of light in your heart ... and receive into your heart the glorious
outpouring ... and become an instrument to radiate light and love
to all ....

He
is the wisest who seeks God. He is the most successful who has found
God.
- Paramahansa Yogananda, The Law of Success
Keep
your eye on the eagle
Call down the fire
Do not look at the ground
Be centered in divinity.
-
Alice A. Bailey, The Labours of Hercules (Scorpio)
O
Thou who givest sustenance to the Universe
From whom all things proceed
And to whom all things return,
Unveil to us the face of the true Spiritual Sun
Hidden by a disc of golden light,
That we may know the truth and do our whole duty
As we journey to Thy Sacred Feet.
-
The Gayatri
People
are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends
and some true enemies; succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If
you find serenity and happiness, there may be jealousy;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.
-
Mother Teresa
Praise
and blame,
gain and loss,
pleasure and sorrow
come and go like the wind.
To be happy,
rest like a great tree
in the midst of them.
-
Jack Kornfeld, Buddha's Little Instruction Book
There
are three values:
Feel Good, Be Good, and Do Good.
- Yogi

Seven
blunders from which arise the violence that plagues the world:
Wealth without work.
Pleasure without conscience.
Knowledge without character.
Commerce without morality.
Science without humanity.
Worship without sacrifice.
Politics without principles.
-
Mahatma Gandhi
All
kinds of austerities and penances are inferior to remaining in equanimity.
All remedies are inferior to always remaining cheerful, and
All knowledge is inferior to self-knowledge.

The universe
speaks in many languages, but only one voice.
The language
is not Narn or Human or Centauri or Gaeyem or Minbari. It speaks in
the language of hope. It speaks in the language of trust. It speaks
in the language of strength and the language of compassion. It is the
language of the heart and the language of the soul.
And always
it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors speaking through
us. And the voice of our inheritors waiting to be born. It is the small
still voice that says we are One. No matter the blood. No matter the
skin. No matter the world. No matter the star. We are One. No matter
the pain. No matter the darkness. No matter the loss. No matter the
fear. We are One.
Here, gathered
together in common cause, we agree to recognize this singular truth
and this singular rule that we must be kind to one another because each
voice enriches us and ennobles us. And each voice lost diminishes us.
We are the voice of the universe. The soul of creation. The fire that
will light the way to a better future.
We are
One. We are One. We are One!

I

- A

My
religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.
- His
Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama
So
peace will come again on Earth
but a peace unlike aught known before.
Then will the will-to-good flower forth as understanding
And understanding blossom as goodwill in men.
- Alice A. Bailey, The Reappearance of the
Christ, p. 14
An
act of goodwill
its beauty inspires,
its fragrance uplifts and
its seeds are carried far and wide to
propagate further acts of goodwill.
The seeds are carried within our hearts.
The fragrance perfumed is released
with a loving act.
