Fact of Immortality and Eternal Persistence
The Basic Truths To Date These basic truths never change because they are related to the nature of Deity Itself and have become apparent to mankind through revelation, as evolution has proceeded and man has developed the needed perceptive faculties and the required persistence of search, plus the unfolding of the inner light of the soul. These truths, inherent in the divine nature, reveal the soul of God. They are:
1. The Law of Compassion This is the truth of right relationship, of loving understanding, of actively expressed Love. It is the foundation of brotherhood and the expression of the inner unity.
Compassion is the first basic truth of Deity, and is ever clear and brief. "... in the human heart, is to be found the fact of the nature of Deity itself. The Christian statement that 'God is love' is founded on this deepest, recognized, spiritual fact." The expression of this divine characteristic may be summed up as "... the Law of Laws ~ eternal Harmony ... a shoreless, universal essence, the light of everlasting right and fitness of things, the law of love eternal. "(1) Compassion is a form of sacrifice. At the time of the Wesak Festival, the Buddha's sacrifice on behalf of humanity is our greatest example of compassion.
In the true compassion of the Buddha there is no emotion. It is more like The Buddha's expression of detachment, "without passion." From this place "Come-passion" wells up automatically in the heart to serve and save humanity. The Buddha and the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara are the embodiment of Compassion. They refrain from entering the blissful state of nirvana to remain here to save the creatures of the earth. This devotion to the salvation of others emphasizes profound compassion. This is echoed in the teachings of The Christ, "The first shall be last and the last shall be first." (3) Compassion is a keynote of human evolution. As humans, it is our service to contact and become the Law of Compassion, for we are said to be made in the image of Deity. Our
consistent expression of this Law has a twofold effect: Compassion emanates from the Buddhic plane, the plane of "At-one-ment." It is known as Universal Love, having no relation to sentiment or to affection. When we identify with all beings, true compassion is known. Only then is the Divine within revealed to us. Love, service and sacrifice are the embodiment and expression of true compassion. Compassion knows well the value of "the good of the many" over "the good of the one." Together these become the good of The One, the best for the whole of life. For all kingdoms on the Earth, compassion is justice as depicted by Libra, blind by sight, yet knowing all the more clearly in the heart, exactly what is right, and what is wrong. The truest of compassion is being the very best we can be. To invoke the Law of Compassion is our service. In calling it to mind we begin to see the "Truth" of right human relations ~ that God ever loves us and we ever love God and each other. We are One. With this understanding we can express love, building the foundation of our human family. (HN) [ return to top of page ]
2. The Fact of God This is the truth that Being is God Immanent and God Transcendent; it involves the recognition of the great Whole and the related part; it is the knowledge of divinity, ascertained through right relationship and identity of origin. It is the revelation of the life of God, pervading all that is (God Immanent), and of that same life, providing that still greater cosmic relation (God Transcendent) which is the final guarantee of all progress and of progressive revelation. "Having pervaded this whole universe with a fragment of Myself, I remain" is the challenge of Deity and the eternal hope of humanity. This is the answer of Life Itself to the demands of humanity, to the enquiries of science and to the whole world problem. God is here, present among us and in all forms of expression; He includes, pervades and remains beyond. He is greater than all appearance. He reveals Himself progressively and cyclically as man gets ready for further knowledge.
I've noticed that those who have trouble accepting the Fact of God have had very little compassion in their lives. It seems that we first need compassion, right relationship, in order to experience and align with our Divine Source. It is then that we begin to notice the Great Whole and all the related parts. It is interesting that Buddha made the first planetary effort toward enlightening our personalities about compassion and the right relationship between the form and the Life between the soul and the body. He calmed the emotions with the light of reason. He prepared the personality to be a conscious expression of Divinity. It was The Christ who took our personalities to the next level. He taught the value of each individual as an integral part of the Whole. He taught love and unity with all that is. He aligned our minds with our intuition and brought us into relationship with Deity. "I and the Father are One." Right relationship and the love of all brings us to the fact of God and the fact of God increases right relationship and the love of all! In my experience those who doubt the fact of God feel separated and fearful. They are not connected to the Whole and are not in alignment with their Divine Origin. Their doubt keeps them separated. Their minds have not made the intuitive leap to the fact of God and the Great Whole. Our Source is Deity ... Deity is within our beingness ... Deity is cosmic and beyond us. When the God Immanent (the revelation of the Life of God pervading all that is) and of that same Life, providing the still greater cosmic relation, and The God Transcendent, relate, we experience growth and progress. It is then that the fact of God naturally leads to Revelation.

3. The Continuity of Revelation Ever down the ages and at each human crisis, always in the hours of necessity, at the founding of a new race, or in the awakening of a prepared humanity to a new and wider vision, the Heart of God ~ impelled by the law of compassion ~ sends forth a Teacher, a World Saviour, an Illuminator, an Avatar. He gives the message which will heal, which will indicate the next step to be taken by the race, which will illumine a dark world problem and give to man an expression of a hitherto unrealised aspect of divinity. Upon this fact of the continuity of revelation and upon the sequence of this progressive manifestation of the divine nature is based the doctrine of Avatars, of divine Messengers, divine Appearances, and inspired Prophets. To all these history unmistakably testifies.
Through the ages, millennia, and centuries, God has consistently reached out to humanity and revealed our course, illumined our path. In times of seeming chaos, great difficulty and tension, the loving heart of God has transmitted a divine message or energy to us. This energy impelled by the Law of Compassion gives humanity the needed expression of a divine idea which illumines a world problem. When the resources of mans intellect, philosophies, and religious expression seem inadequate, God has always answered our prayers and invocations. There is no exception to this truth. Always, the appropriate way by which Divinity can reach and communicate with humanity is found. The Continuity of Revelation is a basic truth concerning the relationship of God and humanity. In response to a consistent invocation by humanity, God communicates with us through avatars, divine messengers and saviors. These great beings transmit the very nature of God and enable humanity to express the needed divine ideas. The Buddha and The Christ are but two of Gods divine messengers. The wisdom, love and light they express emanates from the very heart of God and is evidence of our inner divine guidance. They remind us that God exists and ever loves us, and at the heart of the universe is unalterable compassion which echoes the voice of God, leaving us without doubt that we are not alone. From this emerging place of oneness with divinity each of us has a responsibility to act as an expression of Gods revelation. When this occurs fully and consistently there will be a constant stream of Gods love working in and through humanity which will illumine our lives and make our world sacred. 4. The Inevitable Response of Humanity I have expressed in these simple words the instinctive spiritual reaction of man and of the undying human spirit to the three above foundational truths. This divine spirit in humanity must ever, and most surely does, respond to the divine Appearance. The witness to this is sure and proved. There is that in mankind which is akin to God and which recognises its own when it appears. Such is the unshakable reality in the human heart, and recognition is the inevitable reward and result of revelation.
As a world Teacher or Savior is sent forth out of compassion to awaken us and bring us out of our darkness and ignorance, humanity must respond because our origin is of the Light and the Divine. When we have accepted the fact of God in our lives, we recognize and align with Divine Appearance. In fact, we invoke the Divine into our lives and cause it to appear! As we grow in compassion and the fact of God, we begin to grow toward the Light and identify ourselves with that which is Light. We respond to Divine Appearance and change ourselves accordingly. We make new choices. We rise toward our original state. We experience the next basic truth of Deity ... Progress. (SS) [ return to top of page ]
5. Progress The reaction of the individual man and of the masses of men to the continuity of revelation ~ historically proved ~ cannot be denied. It is the basic fact of religion. The types of that revelation may vary but each new revelation ~ given in response to human need and demand ~ has ever led humanity onward towards a steadily brightening goal and a greater glory. The revelation may come on varying levels of the human consciousness. It may be the revelation of new lands to conquer, terrestrial or mental. Some person pointed the way. It may be the recognition of new laws and facts in nature, scientifically grasped and used; it may be the response of intelligent man to increased knowledge, producing a new type of civilisation. Some liberated spirit pointed the way. It may be the response of the human heart to the Heart of God, leading to the mystical beatitude, and to the recognition of spiritual Being. It may be the reaction of man to some new teaching, some further unfoldment, resulting in a new and enriched religious approach to the centre of life. Some Messenger pointed the way. But always it has meant progress, a moving forward, a rejection of some existing limitation, a repudiating of the undesirable and the evil. Always it involves the recognition of the possible, the ideal and the divine.
Deity experiences. All manifested existence experiences, and through these experiences evolves. The lone hydrogen atom at the edge of the universe is impacted by a single photon, and thus experiences. The past suppositions of a static universe no longer hold sway in the minds of humanity. The stream of existence moves. It moves forward, not up or down or sideways. Progress and evolution are closely tied concepts ~ progress being the inevitable, palpable result of evolution. Our concept of progress is closely tied with our experience of time. Just think back to 20 years past and realize the progress accumulated by humanity. Now the Buddhist farmer in Sri Lanka hears news of the Popes visit to Jerusalem on his radio. Before, he would only have experiences within his local temple. In past times, lack of communication amongst humanity resulted in cultural separation and thus religious separation directly related to geographical location. Now communications are releasing the bonds of spiritual inquisition. No longer are there secret, mysterious religious teachings, bringing fear and distrust, when the truth is so easily available. As our culture quickly becomes unified, a profound religious transformation is occurring. People everywhere are studying religions formerly outside their culture. As people express their experiences, a new religion is emerging from the underlying truths which anchor each present religion. Thus freeing the mind of humanity from our reliance on separativeness, judgement, and limitation and allowing for a new clearer vision illuminates our essential and enduring unity. We are progressing toward ONENESS. (AC) [ return to top of page ]
6. Transcendence This means the innate capacity to pass beyond so-called natural law. This surmounting of limitation is ever taking place and this process of transcendence will call forth increasing recognition. It marks the next major phase in the manifestation of divinity in man; it signifies domination over physical law and humanity's imminent triumph over the forces which have for so long held him to earth. Of this transcendence the present mastery over the air is the symbol. Man is rapidly mastering the four elements. He cultivates the earth; he rides the waters; he controls the electrical fires of the planet, and he flies triumphant through the air. The question now emerges: What, my brothers, next? Another transcendence lies ahead. It is one of the things which the coming Avatar will reveal.
Let us examine the process of transcendence. The next manifestation of our divinity is the transcendence of the personality life and the form life into the realm of soul. When these two aspects are no longer in control, the individual stands free. When the soul-illumined mind is ultimately established all the limitations of the form nature and planetary life are transcended. The focus has been on the objective physical world. As a result of this transcendence, the focus will be on the subjective spiritual world. Through love, will and intelligence, we will transcend our jealousies, prejudices, hatreds and selfishness. Expressions of this transcendence are love, wisdom, compassion and service towards all people and the ability to create right relations among ourselves and the nations of the world. We will learn to think in terms of the whole and of our unification with Deity. As our physical, astral, and mental vehicles develop to meet the expanding consciousness, we will gradually experience (through the intuition), more and more of the divine immanence, to perceive more of the divine nature that lives in each and every one of us. We are all One! We are all Divine! (DC) [ return to top of page ]
